How to Root Oneplus One

OnePlus One 'the flagship killer' is absolutely beast in specs(due to it's price tag too). OnePlus One is powered by Cyanogen Mod 11s custom ROM. Due to this it has high customizing features. Although it does not come rooted so you have to root it yourself. Rooting the OnePlus One requires the user to unlock the bootloader.  Unlocking bootloader will ERASE EVERYTHING ON YOUR PHONE, so make a backup of everything including your personal photos, videos, etc before!  YOU’VE BEEN WARNED!!! Will rooting OnePlus One void my warranty?  Technically yes, but you can unroot/unbrick completely back to 100% stock so you can always unvoid warranty. So, if you have a Window, Mac OS X, or Linux (like Ubuntu) computer, let’s go ahead and root this beast! Before we begin, you can also download all the files you need here for all Windows, Mac OSX, and Linux/Ubuntu: Download:
Step 1. First power off your OnePlus One, then hold down Volume Up and Power buttons together for about 3 seconds.

When you see “fastboot mode” with CyanogenMod logo, let go of both buttons.

Then connect a micro-USB cable from your computer to your OnePlus One.

Step 2. For Mac or Linux, skip to Step 3 as you do not need to install drivers.  For Windows, open Device Manager (go to Control Panel->Hardware & Sound->Device Manager). If you have previously installed ADB drivers for other phones like Nexus 4 or Nexus 5, you may see “Android ADB Interface”.  If you see that, skip to Step 3. However, if you don’t see that and you see “Android” with an exclamation mark, follow our video tutorial and install ADB drivers. Download: Download ADB Drivers

Step 3. Next, you will need fastboot files.  You don’t need to download the whole Android SDK (which can take hours) to get this, just download fastboot.zip and unzip, you should get a folder called fastboot with all the files you need for Windows, Mac, and Linux. Download: Download fastboot.zip Also you need to download TWRP or CWM recovery image and put it in the same folder as fastboot. Download: Download TWRP or CWM Recovery for OnePlus One

Step 4. Next, open up a command prompt (type “cmd” in Windows search bar) or terminal for Mac/Linux. WARNING: This is where we unlock the bootloader on the OnePlus One.  By doing this step, it will ERASE EVERYTHING ON YOUR PHONE!!! Then type: For Windows: cd Download cd fastboot fastboot oem unlock For Mac OSX: cd Download cd fastboot chmod 755 * ./fastboot-mac oem unlock For Linux/Ubuntu: cd Download cd fastboot chmod 755 * sudo ./fastboot-linux oem unlock

Step 5. Your phone will reboot couple times and reboot.  Once rebooted, simply sign in to your account then go to Settings->About Phone and hit the “Build Number” 5 times until it says “You have enabled development settings”.

Step 6. Then hit the back button once, you should see a new menu option called “Developer options”, press on that.

And make sure “Update CM recovery” is checked OFF.  This is so your phone won’t try to re-install stock recovery over the custom CWM/TWRP recovery we will be installing.  Besides, we no longer need a stock recovery once rooted, CWM/TWRP recovery will handle everything for us.

Step 7. Download and copy SuperSU zip file onto your OnePlus One. Download: Download SuperSU zip file

Step 8. Put your phone into fastboot mode like you did in Step 1 and connect micro-USB cable to your OnePlus One.

Step 9. Then type: (You can also copy & paste duh!) For Windows: fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.7.1.1-bacon.img fastboot erase cache For Mac OSX: ./fastboot-mac flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.7.1.1-bacon.img ./fastboot-mac erase cache For Linux/Ubuntu: sudo ./fastboot-linux flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.7.1.1-bacon.img sudo ./fastboot-linux erase cache   Also you can replace the file name “openrecovery-twrp-2.7.1.1-bacon.img” with the recovery image you want to use (e.g. CWM Recovery image) but I do recommend TWRP Recovery as it’s more versatile. You can also use OTG Flash Drives with TWRP which can be handy in leaving all of your large backup ROMs separate from your phone’s storage.

Step 10. Unplug your micro-USB cable as we don’t need it anymore.  Then hold down Volume Down and Power buttons together.

When your phone reset and you see OnePlus One logo, let go of both buttons.

Step 11. You should now see TWRP Recovery, choose “Install”.

Then browse your storage and find the SuperSU zip file you copied over earlier and install it.

Step 12. Reboot your OnePlus One and you should find SuperSU app.  Open the app and if you don’t get any errors, your OnePlus One has been fully rooted.  Also if it asks you to update binaries, say “yes”.

Step 13. You can install and open a rooted app like Titanium Backup app to verify you have full root.  You should see a Superuser request window.  Congratulations!  You’ve rooted your OnePlus One in “High On Android” style.  Pat yourself on the back and go show off to all your friends that your OnePlus One is better than their phone.

How to enable Google Now in Nepal

Google Now was first introduced with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, since it has been an integral part of android device to get various information based on your search queries as well as your customization. If you don't know what Google Now is then, it is an application that comes pre- installed with many of the Android phone(with 4.1+ versions). You can search anything from Google Now like weathers, apps, news, etc. All of your needs comes in form of card stack.

Since it come pre-installed with many Android devices(with 4.1+ versions) we Nepalese people didn't know about it( Although it came on rise after the release of Android 4.4 Kitkat)because it's not available in Nepal. So today we are going to learn to activate Google Now in Nepal.

Follow the given steps properly to activate Google Now on your device.
Just make sure you have an active internet connection and follow all the steps below carefully.

Step 1:
Turn on Airplane mode in your device. Now turn on Wifi and connect it to your Wifi network.

Step 2:

Step 3:

Step 4:
Open the app and set the location to "New York" (I chose New York but you can select any other places in the USA which would get guaranteed Google Now support). It might ask you to enable mock location first, do that from the developer options in the settings. Now go back to the Fake gps app and set the location to Miami by searching Miami and hitting Play icon on the bottom.

Step 5:
Go to Settings and tap in "Google" under Accounts. Then select "Search". Go to Accounts & privacy> Google Account and sign out.

Step 6:
Go to Settings>Apps>All and look for Google Play Services. Tap on it and Disable it. It may ask you to uninstall updates and restore to factory version, do it. You might have to deactivate Google Play Services form the Device Administrator first.

Step 7:
Go to Settings and tap in "Google" under Accounts. Then select "Search". Go to Accounts & privacy> Google Account and sign in to your Google account.

Step 8:
Google Now setup screen should come up. Select I'm in. (It's obvious).

Step 9:
Now it may prompt you to Re-enable Google Play Services, do it and an update might be available for Google Play Services, update it from Playstore. Then Turn off Airplane Mode. Uninstall Fake gps app and choose the location service mode of your choice under Settings>Location.
Congo! you have now Google Now activated in your mobile device.
Note: If you have latest Android version (Android 5.0 aka Lollipop) then this method does not work. We'll soon update about how to activate the Google Now in Android  5.0 .

How to Convert your Android Smartphone into OnePlus One!

For those of you who are still waiting for your OnePlus One invite, let me tell you that you can actually fully convert your existing Android smartphone into a OnePlus One by installing latest CM11 ROM along with the HighOnAndroid OnePlus One Conversion Kit.
This will give you 99% of the software features on the OnePlus One including the Hexo theme (default theme on OnePlus One), camera, AudioFX app (works 100%), Screencast (screen recording app), Privacy Guard, and WhisperPush.  (See video overview for demo)  The only thing that does not work is the screen-off gesture shortcuts but I think that’s minor issue.

How to Root Galaxy Note 3!

There’s already a working CWM recovery which means you may be able to easily root your brand, new Galaxy Note 3 easily.
Here’s an outline of steps you must do to root your Galaxy Note 3.  This guide works for all Jelly Bean Android 4.3, KitKat Android 4.4.2, and 4.4.4.  For KitKat, make sure you use the updated CWM recovery instead.
Currently this root guide is for Windows only (or use VMWare for Linux/Mac) but I will have an updated Mac/Linux guide soon.

How to Flash IMG Files on Rooted Android with Flashify App! [Root Apps]

For rooted Android smartphones and tablets, sometimes you may need to flash IMG files (files ending in .img).  Whether you are flashing recovery image such as CWM or TWRP recovery or flashing boot image, it’s always a complicated task involving fastboot command with a computer OR terminal emulator with dd commands.
Now, there’s an easier way to flash img files on any rooted Android device using an app called Flashify.  I ran into this problem while trying to flash a modded version of TWRP on my HTC One.  I wanted to find an easier way for users to install IMG files instead of using fastboot.  Also, there are many times when GooManager app doesn’t work and fails to install TWRP recovery.

How to Root Galaxy Note 4!

For those of you who want to root your Samsung Galaxy Note 4 so you can run rooted apps and        install custom ROMs, here’s how to root your Galaxy Note 4.
Before we begin, this root method uses ChainFire’s CF AutoRoot to give you root.  This root method
does void KNOX warranty so we highly recommend you to get insurance before doing so (since with insurance you can get a new phone even if you void warranty).

This root method will work on most Galaxy Note 4 models including:
  • SM-N910F – International
  • SM-N910G/SM-N910H Asian
  • SM-N910T – T-Mobile U.S.
  • SM-N910P – Sprint
  • SM-N910R4 – US Cellular
  • SM-N910W8 – Canadian
  • SM-N910C – Thailand
  • SM-N910U – Hong Kong
  • SM-N910K/SM-N910L/SM-N910S – Korean KT, LG, SK Telecom
  • SM-N9100/SM-N9106W/SM-N9108V/SM-N9109W
For AT&T or Verizon Note 4, you may have to wait for another root method.
*Note – This root method DOES NOT ERASE ANYTHING on your phone.
This root tutorial is for Windows computer but you can use JODIN instead ODIN on Mac OSX or Linux/Ubuntu.

Step 1. Power off your Galaxy Note 4 then hold down Volume Down, Center Home, and Power buttons together until you see the warning screen like below:

Step 2. Hit Volume Up button to enter ODIN Download Mode then connect a micro-USB cable from your Note 4 to your computer.

Step 3. Go to ChainFire’s XDA thread here and download the appropriate CF Auto root for your Note 4 model.

Step 4. Unzip the downloaded file and you should see a bunch of files.  Double-click on ODIN3-v3.07.exe to run ODIN program.

Step 5. Next, you should see a blue, highlighted box with a random COM number.  If you see this, you have proper Note 4 Windows drivers installed.  If not, download and install Note 4 Windows drivers.

Step 6. Choose “PDA” then select the file ending in “tar.md5″.

Step 7. Hit the “Start” button and CF Auto Root should be flashing to your Note 4.

Step 8. When done successfully, you should see “RESET!”.  If you get stuck, try using a different USB hub/cable and simply try again.

Step 9. Reboot and you should find a new app called “SuperSU” in your app drawer.  Congratulations!   You’ve successfully rooted your Galaxy Note 4!

Step 10. Open up SuperSU app and update the binary if needed.

Step 11. Also, disable KNOX if SuperSU asks you.  KNOX is an annoying, useless security program Samsung has put on your phone and it will only interfere with root and rooted apps.

Step 12. To verify you have full root, simply download and run Titanium Backup app from Play Store.  You should see Superuser request window popup.

That’s it!
Next steps?
At the time of writing this tutorial, there is no custom recovery like CWM or TWRP available.  But once it comes available, you can use Flashify app to install it.
